My Favorite Six Year Old

My favoritest Mieley turned six last Saturday.  SIX! She really had a three day celebration, but can you blame her?  Friday night I let her have two friends over. We painted fingernails, ate pizza, watched movies, and danced.  It was a great time.

Here's the cake I made Mieley this year.  When I asked what she wanted, she said a big number six, so that's what I did.  I decorated it with whoppers and I think it turned out pretty good.

Poor little Ajay was the only guy around.  Even his dad thought there was too many girls around and left.

Saturday was her real birthday.  She had quite a few people call to wish her Happy Birthday, and then my parents made a special trip up just to see her.

Sunday she was surprised by her Aunt Jandy who made this Pink Panther cake just for her! It was the cutest cake - and yummy too!  Even the panthers were edible! ("Pink Panther" is currently Mieley's favorite cartoon, and green is her favorite color.)

We Love YOU Mieley!!!
Happy Birthday!

All Tuckered Out

So this week has been the week I've been avoiding for awhile now. We've been hiding out in our house now for 4 days, with only brief escapes back to the outside, sunshining world. What have we been doing???? POTTY TRAINING!!! Never a fun thing to do, but something that eventually HAS TO BE done. Mieley had about 10 accidents the first day and I was ready to say forget it, but the next morning she choose to put on panies again, and has gotten better at this everyday since then. It's been such a different experience from Adalyn - With Adalyn I could have a full conversation with her by this stage (mostly bribing her with candy if she goes in the potty). Mieley and I have conversations too - just I'm doing all the talking and Mieley grunts and points instead. Someday she'll talk I hope!

So poor Mieley, the first day we were potty training, she was so tired from being up sick the night before, that she actually fell asleep while coloring with Adalyn. It was so cute! The only thing that woke her up was that she wet her pants (again!) and I had to clean her up (again!)

Nonetheless, I've very proud of Mieley and I'm so glad that we've got this first week over with!

Happy *House Wide* Pink Day!

So a late Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone! Hope no one got pinched too many times. We celebrated a little bit - mainly just by wearing green clothes and I surprised the girls with green pancakes.

Yummy. . .right?

Mieley's giving me the "I know you are up to something mom" look.

Adalyn looking *thrilled* to see that I went out of my way this morning to *try* and make her smile. :)

For the most part, my kids were happy, but I did have a good SOLID hour of this:

All of this happened before she actually ate the green pancakes. I think first she was mad that I had chosen "greenish" clothes to wear and then that I hadn't let her make the green pancakes with me. She got SO MAD! I just laughed and took pictures of her - which made her even more furious than I was documenting her temper tantrum. For some reason I just found that temper tantrum more entertaining than frustrating or annoying.

So when I went into the girls bedroom this morning to help get them ready, Adalyn declared it "Pink Day!" (Since yesterday was Green Day!) She said, "Mommy, today is pink day and we get to make pink pancakes!! And we need to wear pink shirts so we match our pink pancakes!" She was so excited about it all, I thought "why not"? Don't want a repeat of yesterday's tantrum so HAPPY PINK DAY everyone!

First of all they both had to wear pink:

Then we made pink pancakes:

Maybe tomorrow will be "Yellow Day!" Who knows. We do need a little sunshine around here!

Porcupine Lodge

I am so excited!!! This weekend will be the 2nd annual trip with all of Adam's family to Ashton to a cabin called the "Porcupine Lodge." We leave tomorrow until Sunday. For those who know that area, it's located pretty close to Cave Falls and Mesa Falls. I can't wait for a weekend of sledding, snowmobiling, games, food, and fun. The only downfall is that it's supposed to be windy until Saturday. I hate the Idaho wind. The only good thing about it is I can blame all my bad hair days on it! This will also be a perfect time to recoup from my strenuous workout yesterday. Ha.Ha. Okay, it may not of been that strenuous, but I am sore today. I know, poor me.

So we're off tomorrow, leaving this wonderland:

(Mieley a year ago. Man she's grown since then! She had to stay inside all last year because she was really sick, but she still had her cute smiles! Picture from January 2007)

(My favorite picture of Adam from last year's trip. We were sledding down this hill and he got a little too wild! Picture from January 2007)
See you all next week with hopefully some fun pictures!
