Up, Up and Away

You'll never guess what Adam and I did last night. . .

Here's your hint:

Adam and I rode in an airplane! But not just any airplane, a B-25 Bomber!! Last Saturday, Rexburg had an air show. As soon as Danielle and I finished the Teton Dam 1/2 marathon, we walked over to the air show to meet everyone there. This airplane was flying in the air show. Adam wanted to ride in it, so he called the Legacy Flight Museum to see what it would take to fly in it - and ended up setting a time for us to fly. Seven of us - Adam, me, Adam's dad, my dad, and three friends all got to ride!

It was an amazing experience. Definitely a once in a lifetime thing. After the flight, Adam and his buddy went out to eat with the Pilot and crew, and here's a few interesting facts that he learned while at dinner:

1. This Bomber was finished being built in 1944 - to be used in WWII. However the war ended right as it was ready to go out, so it was only used to fly people around and not used in the war.

2. There are only 8 of these B-25 Bombers left flying in the world, and only 3 of them allow people to ride in them.

3. The plane has a 1000 gallon tank (it can go 4 hours on a tank), and it only gets 1 to 1.5 miles to the gallon! (I guess I shouldn't complain about my car anymore!)

4. The plane's worth anywhere from $750 thousand to $950 thousand!

5. The co-pilot told Adam that this plane had been used in Walt Disney movies before. I got on their website and it said that this plane has been used in over 80 Hollywood films!!! Cool!

Machine gun at the nose of the airplane. This would be so scary to actually had to use this thing. Plus, in the nose of the plane, you would be all by yourself - you can't see the pilot or anyone else from this point. It really gave me a new respect for those who had to do this to protect our freedom.

This is my dad crawling from out of the nose of the plane. It was a really tight squeeze. For being such a HUGE plane, it was TINY inside. It was CROWDED with a total of 10 of us in there. As soon as we took off and the pilot got the plane stabilized, we were free to move around the plane as much as we wanted!

Here's Adam's friend Ryan. You had to crawl up and over this part to get from the tail of the plane to the nose of the plane. It was a tight fit! I had to crawl on my elbows to get through!

Back on the ground, safe and sound! This window was open the whole time during flight too. Even the pilot told us we could hang out during the flight if we wanted. I tried to, but we were going so fast, I could only stick my head out for a second!

Dam Runner No More

Well I finished. Another race completed! The weather was perfect, the race course was awesome, and I ended up getting my best time EVER!

Here's my stats:

TETON DAM HALF MARATHON

13.1 miles in 2 : 03 : 11

145th place (out of 346) for all half marathon runners, male and female.

17th place (out of 45) for my age group: Women 25-29.

67th place (out of 205) for all the female half marathon runners.

The best time that I've ever gotten before that was 2 hours 11 minutes - I got that time in a half marathon in Pocatello in 2001. I'm way pumped about my time this year! I won't expect to beat that though for atleast another 7 years or so!

My favorite sign that a volunteer was holding this year was: "This sport would be fun if it wasn't for all the running!" Ha, ha, ha!

Here's the only picture I have from our race (from off the internet). Adam had my camera, but wasn't able to make it to my race, so no other pictures. The picture after me is my sista' - in- law DANIELLE who ran with me. This was her first half marathon EVER and she did AWESOME!

MY BIRTHDAY CAKE! A Dairy Queen cookies n' cream ice cream cake. YUMMY!!!

Next race. . .end of August! Today's my last "off" day. Tomorrow, time to start running again. :) I better eat the rest of that cake tonight!

Birthday Pics

I had an AWESOME 26th Birthday yesterday. Adam surprised me with 2 lbs of hand picked chocolates from the local candy store (Yum!) and then while Adam's parents watched our girls, he took me on a shopping spree and out to dinner to Texas Roadhouse. There my parents surprised me by showing up to have dinner with us. (Double Yum!) He also promises me a birthday cake. . but told me I can't have it until after my race. He knows all to well that I would pig out on it (especially if he gets the ice cream cake I want - Triple YUM!) and then feel horrible since I have a big race to run on Saturday. So I get my birthday cake. . later. . which is good because it extends out my b-day just a bit more.

Heart Attack!

I'm finally down to my final week on my treadmill. This Saturday is the big race day for me. I'm excited and nervous.

SO I was contemplating this thought while running on my treadmill in the wee hours this morning. .I had a good pace going, and my headphones cranked up loud, when . . .

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

I about died of a heart attack right there and then. I nearly peed my pants too. For some reason, the smoke alarm nearest to my head went off, FULL BLAST. It was so loud! It only beeped for about 5 seconds though and then it stopped. (Just enough to make my heart stop and then start again.) Really, what is with my smoke alarms in this house?? They stand against me I think.

So I started thinking about it and all I really gotta say to this is that I must of been smokin' hot on the treadmill this morning! (A compliment for me on my birthday. . .yep, today's my birthday!)

Big Spiders

Here's some of last night's events: (somewhere around midnight)

Mieley: MMMMooooooooMMMMM! MMMooooooommmmmm! MMMMOOOOOOMMMMM!!!

Me: (stumbling into the room) What is it Mieley!?! MIELEY STOP TAKING OFF YOUR DIAPER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S GROSS!!!!

About 2 hours later:

Adalyn: (Crying hysterically) MOMMY!!!! Mommy!

Me: C'mon Adalyn, let's go back bed. I'll rub your back even.

Adalyn: AAAHH!! I can't! There's big spiders in my bed. EEEwwww!

Me: (pulling off all the blankets and pillows) Look there's no spiders, now let's get back to bed!

Adalyn: NO! (falling on the floor now) Ow! THEY'RE HURTING ME! OWWW!

Me: (getting very loud now) ADALYN WHERE ARE THE SPIDERS? POINT TO THEM FOR ME! (Now Mieley's up and crying hysterically too)

Adalyn: RIGHT THERE! (pointing at her pillow)

Me: (picking up the offending pillow) THIS IS NOT A BIG SPIDER! IT'S A PILLOW!

Adalyn: (still jumping up and then falling on the floor) Ow! They're hurting me! Ow! THAT IS A BIG SPIDER!

And so on and so on we fought about her pillow being a spider. Finally, Adam broke in and took Adalyn downstairs and slept on the couch with her.

Can I just get a decent night of sleep please?!?

The girls were happy this morning though. It's like they don't even remember the drama they cause 75% of the nights in a week. Here's what I saw when I walked into their room this morning:

Adalyn was in Mieley's crib reading stories to Mieley. What SILLY girls! I guess they need to do cute stuff like this to make up for the long, sleepless nights they cause. I hope this bad night time stage ends VERY SOON!

In the Eye Doctor Chair AGAIN!

Okay, okay - I know yesterday was the whole "wo is me" story with the dentist, but today I went to the eye doctor hopefully for the last time for atleast 10 years!! Yeah!!!!

As many of you know, I got LASIK surgery last July. I can't say how happy I've been with the results! I'm definitely one of the blessed/lucky ones. I only had one scary time about 2 weeks after the surgery when I felt something "rip/pop" in my eye and my vision went blurry for about a day. That was super scary - and I was cursing myself for being so selfish and wondering why I just paid someone to help me lose my vision - but after an emergency run to the eye doctor, and a few months of ointments and eye drops, everything has just been uphill from there.

So today I went to the eye doctor and I'm seeing 20/15! That's even better than 20/20! He said that if a patient makes it to the year mark with no complications, then there is usually no further vision changes for around 10 years. I'm hoping for 20 years, but I'll take whichever! (The only thing that may still change my vision is pregnancy - but I'll jump that hurdle when and if I ever have to) No more glasses or contacts or squinting to read the alarm clock. I'm just as happy as a clam. I guess it's good thing that I have good eyes to make up for my bad teeth. Such is life!

In the Dentist Chair AGAIN!

I'm so sick of going to the dentist! I am cursed with the dentist chair. My teeth do the weirdest things. To make my pity story short, I had to re-fill a tooth that I had just gotten filled a few months back because. . .who knows? The dentist can't figure it out and I can't figure it out. The fillings are fine, but for some reason, my teeth decide that they just want to start hurting after a couple months. This has all happened to me before too. So now, I dread it, because I'm always worried that if I fill a tooth, in a couple months I'll have to redo the filling. Pretty much I have to fill each tooth twice for no good reason at all. . .other than it hurts. I don't mean to whine. . . okay I do. . . :)

Adam's been a WONDERFUL husband today and pretty much taken the girls to do work errands all day. He took them this morning so I could catch up on book work and bills and boring computer work. Then he kept them while I ran errands around town and then left for my dentist appointment. And he will still have them here in about a hour when I leave to go visiting teaching. (Hummmm. . I hope I don't have too much of a lisp when I go and try to talk tonight.) I LOVE HIM! Days like this make me appreciate him more and more.

Adalyn had gone with Adam to run some errands. I guess she got just a little bit sleepy.



Here's Adalyn's wonderful dressing abilities. I had gotten her new PJ's and I told her she could wear either the shorts or the pants. She got mad and told me she wanted both of them and marched off. Next thing I know, she's standing at the top of the stairs with both the shorts and the pants on and pleased as could be!



This was a very intense game of Mario Kart with Adam and the girls. It was so cute to watch them.

For Memorial Day we were hoping to make it to West Yellowstone, but since it was raining like cats and dogs that day, we turned around in Ashton and went back to Idaho Falls to look for bunk beds for the girlies instead. What a treat to actually spend a day with Adam and him not have to work it!
