Sleepless Night Part 2

AAAAHHHHHHH!!! I need sleep. I need sleep. I need sleep. Usually I'm a pretty good morning person, but not when I'm going on so little sleep.

SO I tried to take off one side of the crib yesterday. The screws wouldn't budge. So I got the electric drill out to do it. They still wouldn't budge. So no big bed for Mieley for now.

So both my girls fell asleep at a decent time last night. However. . .BOTH girls wet the bed last night at the same time! Mieley got up around midnight and when I picked her up to put her back in bed, she was soaking wet. So I changed her, changed the bed and got her back to bed when I decided to put the blankets back on Adalyn. When I went to do that, I noticed Adalyn's bed was sopping wet! I couldn't believe it. So I had to wake up Adalyn to change her, but then she was super mad and grumpy because she didn't understand why she couldn't sleep with her pink blanket and purple blanket anymore. She ended up finally agreeing to sleep in our recliner in our bedroom, but that made Mieley mad that she wasn't in our room too. So all in all, Adam was in our bed, Adalyn was in our chair, Mieley went back to sleep in her crib, and I had to sleep on the floor by Mieley so she would stay in bed.

Finally I got sick of sleeping on the floor, so what do I do? I take Mieley's stuffed animals and place them under the blanket I was using to make it look like to Mieley that I was there if she woke up and look over the side of the crib. Am I pathetic or what?

Tonight I'm going to have to drug them or something. Okay, okay, I wouldn't really do that. . .would I?. . . .

Sleepless Night

So I'm pretty sure which of the 7 dwarfs our household would portray right now: SLEEPY and GRUMPY. Last night, started out okay. . .the girls had a tea party set up in their room before bed time and were playing *good* together. . . . well as good as a 3 and 2 year old will play together. It was actually really cute to watch them. But around 9 o' clock it all went downhill.




No one wanted to go to bed. I had to put them each in bed a couple dozen times, but Mieley was determined to climb out of her crib EVERY time I left the room. She would wait for about 1 minute, just enough time for me to get comfortable and situated in my own bed, and then come running out. AAHH!! It's so hard not to get mad after atleast 10 times putting her back into bed.

So around 10 pm Mieley finally fell asleep (Adalyn fell asleep rather quickly thank goodness!) Then around 10:30 she started hacking and coughing so bad that Adam and I ran into her room because we were sure we would find puke all over her bed. No puke, but we had to get her calmed back down and back to sleep.

Finally around 11 or so, I got to crawl back into my bed and go to sleep. I had just barely started sleeping soundly when I woke up to a very ANNOYING and high pitch *chirp*. . . .*chirp*. . .*chirp*. The fire alarm was beeping every 10 seconds or so because it's batteries were low. Well I couldn't sleep with that nonsense going on, and either could Mieley. She wakes up and starts the whole crying fit over again. Adam took Mieley and I hurried to get a 9 Volt battery for the alarm. But wait - we don't have any 9V batteries! - I ended up taking the battery out of my electric guitar tuner thing and using that to shut the thing up!

Fast forward. . we finally ALL get back to sleep, when around 3 am Mieley's up again. I tried to calm her down and soothe her back to sleep, but she wouldn't have it. She wouldn't let me pick her up out of her crib, but cried even more when I tried to walk away. It was chaos. Finally, before I lost it, I just left her room, shut the door, shut my door and *tried* to sleep through her crying. She did finally settle down, but not more than 2 hours later my alarm went off and it was time to get up. It was very hard to drag my body outta bed this morning to go exercise, but I finally did it and now. . .well that's just say now everyone's a bit grumpy and I'm very much sleepy. The only one that seems happy right now is Mieley. Explain that to me? Adalyn sleeps the best and she's grumpy, but Mieley acts like she slept like a lamb.

I need a nap, but first I'm going to go and take a side off the crib and make the crib a big girl bed. She still probably won't stay in bed, but I think it's time to make the switch to big bed. Wish me luck for tonight!

Moab, Utah

Well we made it safely back from our trip to Moab. It was awesome! I highly recommend going there if you haven't ever! It's so beautiful and majestic. There's nothing quite like it!

Adam, me, Danielle (Adam's sister) and Todd (brother-in-law) all went. Thanks again to Megan and Justin who watched our kids over the weekend (even though it was Justin's birthday and Mother's Day) to make this all possible for us.

Here's a small recap:

Thursday: We got to Moab and did some of the Arches National Park. The arches are so cool. It's amazing how they form.

Friday: We rented a jeep and did Elephant Hill in the Cayonlands National Park. It was a lot of fun but super scary in some parts too. My stomach was doing all sorts of loop-de-loops and flip-flops. I appointed myself the "action shots" photographer during the tough parts on the jeep trail so we could have cool pictures. They all made fun of me when I would hop out, but I kept telling them we'll see who's the last one laughing when they are rolling down the cliff. Funny note: Adam told me we were going SLOW enough that the biggest threat we only really had was getting a sunburn. I didn't believe him. I did get a sunburn though. :) I actually drove too and down a steep part called "Silver stairs." Personal achievment for me there. :) Adam even made me re-back up some of it so he could get a good "jeeping" shot. Funny husband.

We also saw Newspaper rock which is a rock full of Indian writings. Really cool to see upclose!

Also on the jeep trail we drove to a part where the Green River joins the Colorado River. It was a spectacular view! There is something you feel there that makes you realize the great power God had in creating this world.

Saturday: We hiked Delicate Arch. It's about a 1 1/2 mile hike pretty much straight up. It's a good hike, but so worth it in the end. The Delicate Arch is so huge and so beautiful!

Then we went to Dead Horse Point which is an Utah State Park. This over looks the Colorado River and a lot of the Canyonlands. I just can't describe the view from there. It's AMAZING!


We never made it to Mesa Verde, but that's okay, we had plenty to do in the couple days we were there. Can't wait to do this again someday.

Happy Mother's Day!

Just returned from our trip to Moab - more on that later. . . . but for now I just want to give a big SHOUT OUT to all the awesome mothers (mother-in-laws, grandma's, great grandma's ect. too) out there!!!

And I know that I've emailed this to a few of you already and possibly the rest of you have already seen this, but I love this little story. It explains motherhood perfectly!!!

What Do You Do All Day?

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.

Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rugwas wadded against one wall.

In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a Cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?'

She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world do I do all day?

'Yes,' was his incredulous reply.

She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'

Another trip!?!

I know, I know! I just got home from Florida, but now tomorrow I'm off for Moab, Utah. This time Adam's coming with me though. :) We actually had the Moab trip in the plans for longer than my Florida trip was planned. Adam, me, Adam's sister and her hubby are all going. The girls are going to be staying with their Aunt Megan and Uncle Justin, Kinley, and Tanner (thanks again guys!!!) and they couldn't be more excited. I love this stage. . the stage when my kids love to go and stay at other people houses. It makes leaving for a mini-vacation that much easier.

I've only been to Moab once, during the first year that Adam and I were married. It was a blast then, and I'm sure it will be this time too. We plan on hiking a bit, renting a jeep, and maybe heading down to Mesa Verde, Colorado too. And the weather looks nice too. Perfect timing since a storm's supposed to be rolling into Rexburg here tonight and tomorrow.

Another Temper Tantrum

Well Happy Holidays! Feliz Navidad! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Once again we woke up to snow on the ground. How come it always happens the day the month changes? It's like every month keeps throwing these temper tantrums. I wasn't too put out with today's morning snow because I knew it wouldn't be long before it would melt. Also, though I LOVE summer, I keep trying to remind myself that I have no air conditioner and it gets AWFULLY hot in my house and we all sweat to death. I might as well enjoy the cooler weather while I can. Trying to stay optimistic here! :)

But. . .even with all of that. . .I think that since people are sick of the snow (except Adam - he and our neighbor had a contest going to see who's pile of snow in front of our house would last longer. Ours won. Adam was so proud! It only melted all the way earlier this week - FINALLY!) . . .that your state should give you a tax break if it snows past April 15 in your state. It'll help spare many, many people from depression I think. Who's up for signing my petition to send to congress?!? It's all for the greater good!
